Creta third party insurance price
Third party is the part the law makes compulsory, and its price is fixed by the central government, not by the insurer. For a Creta it is ₹10,640 for the three years bought with a new car and ₹3,416 a year after that, before GST.
| Band | One year (₹) | Three years, new car (₹) |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 1,000 ccpetrol and diesel cars | 2,094 | 6,521 |
| 1,000 to 1,500 ccevery Creta and Creta N Line engine | 3,416 | 10,640 |
| Above 1,500 ccpetrol and diesel cars | 7,897 | 24,596 |
| Up to 30 kWelectric cars | 1,780 | 5,543 |
| 30 to 65 kWelectric cars | 2,904 | 9,044 |
| Above 65 kWelectric cars | 6,712 | 20,907 |

Own damage and zero depreciation cover
Own damage covers the car itself. The figures here use 3.28% of the IDV in zone A and 3.19% in zone B, the old tariff's rates for a car up to five years old; insurers now set their own rates. Zero depreciation and other add-ons are not included: each insurer prices them, so a policy with them costs more than the figures above.
| Line | Zone A (₹) | Zone B (₹) |
|---|---|---|
| Third party, three years | 10,640 | 10,640 |
| Own damage, one year | 33,986 | 33,054 |
| Owner-driver PA cover | 750 | 750 |
| GST at 18% | 8,168 | 8,000 |
| First-year premium | 53,544 | 52,444 |

IDV by variant and how it is set
The insured declared value (IDV) is the most the insurer pays if the car is stolen or written off. For a new car it is the ex-showroom price less 5%, which is ₹10,36,165 for the E petrol manual. A higher IDV raises the own-damage premium in step.
IDV by year: the depreciation schedule
At each renewal the IDV is set lower by the car's age. Insurers' policy wordings still print the India Motor Tariff's schedule below, though since 1 April 2024 each insurer may set its own; after five years the IDV is agreed between the insurer and the owner. A change in Creta price history moves the IDV of a new car with it.
| Age of the car | Depreciation | IDV (₹) |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 6 months | 5% | 10,36,165 |
| 6 months to 1 year | 15% | 9,27,095 |
| 1 to 2 years | 20% | 8,72,560 |
| 2 to 3 years | 30% | 7,63,490 |
| 3 to 4 years | 40% | 6,54,420 |
| 4 to 5 years | 50% | 5,45,350 |

Zone A and zone B cities: what changes
Zone A is Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Kolkata and Pune; every other city is zone B. Only the own-damage rate changes between them, by 0.09 percentage points, which makes the first-year premium ₹1,100 higher in zone A for the E. Third party, PA cover and the IDV are the same in both.
Creta insurance cost per year after the first
The second year costs less than the first: third party is already paid for three years, the IDV has dropped 15% and a claim-free year earns a No Claim Bonus of 20% off own damage. From the fourth year third party is bought again, ₹3,416 a year.
| Year | IDV (₹) | Third party (₹) | Claim-free (₹) | After a claim (₹) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Year 2No Claim Bonus 20% | 9,27,095 | Paid | 29,591 | 36,768 |
| Year 3No Claim Bonus 25% | 8,72,560 | Paid | 26,214 | 34,657 |
| Year 4No Claim Bonus 35% | 7,63,490 | 3,416 | 24,124 | 34,465 |
| Year 5No Claim Bonus 45% | 6,54,420 | 3,416 | 18,847 | 30,245 |

What the on road insurance figure includes and excludes
The on road price of each Creta variant includes its first-year premium as above, for its city: third party for three years, own damage for one year on 95% of ex-showroom at the zone rate, owner-driver PA cover and GST. It leaves out zero depreciation, engine protection, roadside assistance and other add-ons, and any discount an insurer gives on own damage. A CSD buyer pays the same insurance on top of CSD canteen price.
