The Creta is the cheaper of the pair in 15 of them; in the rest the Thar costs less, by up to ₹2,16,300. Every manual petrol Thar OG has four-wheel drive, so the manual petrol Cretas meet four-wheel-drive Thars.

Thar vs Creta dimensions: four seats against five

The Thar OG is 3,995 mm long, 1,870 mm wide and 1,855 mm tall on a 2,450 mm wheelbase, against the Creta's 4,330 mm, 1,790 mm, 1,635 mm and 2,610 mm, and it is built on a ladder frame. It seats four; its ground clearance is given as 232 mm without a measurement basis, so it is not set against the Creta's 190 mm. Its tank holds 55 litres with a diesel and 50 with the petrol, to the Creta's 50.

Creta vs Thar Roxx: the five-door Thar, matched the same way

The Thar Roxx is the five-door, five-seat Thar: 4,428 mm long on a 2,850 mm wheelbase, 98 mm longer than the Creta, with a 447-litre boot against 433. Matched by the same rule, the Creta costs less in 17 of 27 pairs, and the closest are the Creta SX Premium 1.5 CRDi Diesel 6-speed MT and the Roxx Star Edition Diesel MT, ₹2,700 apart. Certified mileage is 12.4 km/l for the Roxx petrol and 15.2 km/l for the diesel, manual or automatic. Four-wheel drive comes on 4 diesel Roxx variants, from the MX5 Diesel 4WD MT at ₹19,56,000. Thar OG engines and four-wheel drive against the Creta's 1.5s

The Thar OG has three engines: a 1,497 cc diesel of 87.2 kW and 300 Nm, sold with rear-wheel drive and a manual only, a 2,184 cc diesel of 111.9 kW and 330 Nm, and a 1,997 cc turbo petrol of 119 kW and 330 Nm; the last two come with a manual or an automatic. Four-wheel drive comes on 8 of its 15 variants, from the 2.0L LXT 4WD Petrol at ₹15,59,500; no Creta has it. Four-wheel drive was also on Hyundai's Tucson, in its diesel Signature, until Hyundai took the Tucson off its Indian list in November 2025; Creta against the Tucson sets its last listed prices beside the Creta's. The Creta's 1.5 MPi petrol makes 115 PS and its diesel 116 PS. No agreed certified mileage exists for the Thar OG; the Creta is certified at 17.4 and 17.7 km/l for the petrol manual and IVT and 21.8 and 19.1 km/l for the diesel.

On road in Delhi: Thar OG 1.5L AXT Diesel RWD against Creta E

The Thar 1.5L AXT Diesel RWD is a diesel and the Creta E a petrol. Beyond the price, the lines that differ, the Thar's figure first, are road tax ₹1,29,000 against ₹1,09,070, TCS ₹10,320 against ₹10,907 and insurance ₹51,385 against ₹53,544; registration fees, city charges and dealer items are the same. So the ex-showroom gap of ₹58,700 narrows to ₹41,516 on the road.

The Thar OG has 2 airbags on the AXT and LXT and 6 on the ZXT, from the 1.5L ZXT Diesel RWD at ₹13,99,000; every Creta has 6.
