Creta Safety Rating

Creta safety rating, as on 1 November 2026: Bharat NCAP has not crash-tested the Creta on sale today, nor the Creta N Line or the Creta EV (Hyundai's Creta Electric), so none of them has a Bharat NCAP result. The last NCAP crash test of a Creta sold in India, Global NCAP's of 12 April 2022, gave the car sold before the January 2024 facelift, in its base specification with two airbags, 3 stars for adult occupants and 3 stars for children. Today's Creta has six airbags on every variant.

The Creta features and specifications give every variant six airbags and disc brakes at all four wheels; cameras and ADAS come with higher trims.

Creta NCAP rating: Bharat, Global, ASEAN and Latin NCAP

Bharat NCAP, India's own crash test programme, lists no Creta; the Hyundai models it has tested are the Venue and the Tucson. Global NCAP, ASEAN NCAP and Latin NCAP have each tested a different Creta. Global NCAP in 2022 tested the Creta sold in India before the January 2024 facelift; ASEAN NCAP in 2022, the Creta built in Indonesia for Southeast Asia (the Active variant); Latin NCAP in 2015, the first Creta, built in India for Latin America.

Bharat NCAP, Global NCAP, ASEAN NCAP and Latin NCAP on the Hyundai Creta, and the car each one tested. Each programme scores on its own scale; Bharat NCAP's list as on 1 November 2026.

Creta Global NCAP rating: 3 stars in 2022

Global NCAP published the result on 12 April 2022: 3 stars for adult occupant protection, 8.00 points of 17, and 3 stars for child occupant protection, 28.29 of 49. The car was the Creta sold before the January 2024 facelift, tested in its most basic safety specification: two frontal airbags and ABS. At the time, its test was a frontal crash at 64 km/h; side impact, electronic stability control and pedestrian protection were not part of it.

Standard safety equipment: the Creta Global NCAP tested in 2022 against every Creta on sale now. Today's column is the base model, the E; every other variant has the same or more.

Every item the tested car lacked is standard on today's Creta, from the E up. No NCAP test of the Creta now sold in India has measured the difference.

Why is Creta not 5 star?

Because the India-built Creta Global NCAP tested in 2022 had an unstable bodyshell, gave marginal protection to the driver's chest and both front occupants' knees and left a 3-year-old's head exposed in its child seat. The Creta sold today has not been tested at all. For adults (3 stars), Global NCAP also found the footwell unstable and the bodyshell unable to take further loads. For children (3 stars), the 3-year-old dummy's seat was forward-facing, held by the adult belt, and the dummy's chest protection was poor; the car had no ISOFIX anchorages as standard; and the rear centre seat had only a lap belt.

The Creta with 5 stars that turns up in searches is ASEAN NCAP's 2022 result, 75.78 points under its 2021–2025 rating protocol, for the Creta built in Indonesia; it says nothing about a car built in India.

Creta airbags and safety equipment by trim

Every Creta, the E included, has six airbags: driver, front passenger, two side and two curtain airbags. The other 21 items below are standard on every variant too. Higher trims add cameras, sensors and, on the King, the ADAS functions.

Creta safety rating for the N Line and the Creta EV

Bharat NCAP has not tested the Creta N Line and Creta EV either. Both have six airbags as standard, and every Creta EV also has hill descent control and an electric parking brake with auto hold. As on 1 November 2026, no Creta safety rating from Bharat NCAP or Global NCAP covers the Creta, Creta N Line or Creta EV on sale.
