What is the real mileage of Creta petrol?
Below the ARAI figure, most of all in city traffic. In independent real-world tests the MPi IVT returned 10.3 to 11.2 km/l in the city and 13.8 to 15.8 km/l on the highway and the turbo DCT returned 10.9 to 11.6 km/l in the city. In crawling, bumper-to-bumper traffic both a long-term test and an owner have reported the IVT below 10 km/l. The ARAI figure comes from a fixed laboratory drive cycle; on the road it moves with traffic, driving habits and the car's condition.
| Engine and gearbox | ARAI | City, in tests | Highway, in tests |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1.5 MPi petrol IVT2 separate testers | 17.7 | 10.3 to 11.2 km/l | 13.8 to 15.8 km/l |
| 1.5 Turbo GDi petrol 7-speed DCT2 separate testers | 18.4 | 10.9 to 11.6 km/l | no agreed figure |

What is the mileage of Creta E petrol?
17.4 km/l, ARAI-certified. The E is the Creta's base model, sold only with the 1.5 MPi Petrol 6-speed MT at ₹10,90,700 ex-showroom (as on 1 November 2026); its full tank covers 870 km at that figure.
Why is Creta petrol mileage low?
Mostly because city traffic is far from the fixed laboratory cycle the ARAI figure comes from, and the tests above show the gap is widest there. Keeping the tyres at their recommended pressures helps; on an automatic Creta with drive mode select (every automatic trim but the EX(O)), ECO mode trades some accelerator response and air-conditioning performance for efficiency, while SPORT mode can lower it. Idle Stop and Go, on every Creta, switches the engine off when the car stands still, and a new car's fuel economy can take 6,000 km to settle. On the highway, Creta petrol mileage in those tests came closer to the certified figure.
