Creta mileage, as ARAI certifies it, is 21.8 km/l for the 1.5 CRDi diesel 6-speed MT and 17.4 km/l for the 1.5 MPi petrol 6-speed MT, the highest and lowest of the five engine and gearbox pairs. In between, the petrol IVT is certified at 17.7 km/l, the turbo petrol 7-speed DCT at 18.4 km/l and the diesel 6-speed AT at 19.1 km/l. Buyers who ask for the Creta's "average" mean the same figure.
Power in the Creta specifications by engine runs from 115 PS on the 1.5 MPi Petrol to 160 PS on the 1.5 Turbo GDi Petrol.

The Creta with the highest certified mileage per litre is the 1.5 CRDi diesel 6-speed MT, sold on the E, EX, EX(O), S(O), S(O) Knight, SX Premium and King from ₹12,61,000 ex-showroom (as on 1 November 2026). Among automatics the order is the 1.5 CRDi diesel 6-speed AT (19.1 km/l), the 1.5 Turbo GDi petrol 7-speed DCT (18.4 km/l) and the 1.5 MPi petrol IVT (17.7 km/l). Every Creta with the same engine and gearbox carries the same figure, whatever the trim.

Creta mileage petrol and diesel side by side
With a manual gearbox the diesel is certified 4.4 km/l above the petrol, 220 km more on a full tank. Among automatics the diesel AT's lead is 1.4 km/l over the petrol IVT and 0.7 km/l over the turbo petrol DCT. What is the real mileage of Creta?
Lower than the certified figure. In independent real-world tests of the current Creta, the 1.5 MPi petrol IVT returned 10.3 to 11.2 km/l in the city and 13.8 to 15.8 km/l on the highway against its certified 17.7 km/l; the 1.5 Turbo GDi petrol 7-speed DCT returned 10.9 to 11.6 km/l in the city against its certified 18.4 km/l. In crawling, bumper-to-bumper traffic both a long-term test and an owner have reported the IVT below 10 km/l. The certified figure is measured on a chassis dynamometer that drives the car through a fixed speed pattern, the Modified Indian Driving Cycle, under controlled conditions; on the road, fuel use varies with driving habits, road conditions and the condition of the car.

Creta full tank range by engine and gearbox
Every Creta, petrol or diesel, has a 50-litre tank, so the full tank range follows the certified figure: 870 km for the 1.5 MPi petrol 6-speed MT and 1,090 km for the 1.5 CRDi diesel 6-speed MT. These are the tank's litres multiplied by the ARAI figure; a car driven in city traffic covers less on the same fill.

Creta N Line and Creta EV figures beside the Creta
The Creta N Line has the turbo engine with either gearbox and is certified at 18 km/l with the 6-speed MT and 18.2 km/l with the 7-speed DCT. It shares the Creta's 50-litre tank and its 190 mm Creta ground clearance. The Creta EV (Hyundai's Creta Electric) has no mileage in km/l; its claimed range is 420 km with the 42 kWh battery and 510 km with the 51.4 kWh battery on a full charge.

How to see mileage in Creta?
On the instrument cluster's trip computer, which shows average fuel economy in km/l. The steps are the same on both cluster types:
- Press the MODE button on the steering wheel until the trip computer appears (the Utility group on the larger cluster).
- Use the MOVE switch to step between Current Trip, Since Refuelling and Since Reset; each shows the distance, the driving time and the average fuel economy.
- To start a fresh reading, hold OK on the steering wheel for more than a second while Since Refuelling or Since Reset is shown.
Since Refuelling counts from the last fill, so it gives the economy of the current tankful. Distance to empty is an estimate: it can miss a top-up of under 6 litres and varies with how and where the car is driven.
Does the Hyundai Creta have CNG?
No. Every Creta on sale runs on petrol, diesel or electricity; there is no CNG Creta, so there is no CNG mileage figure. The highest certified figure is the 1.5 CRDi diesel 6-speed MT's 21.8 km/l.
Why does Creta give less mileage?
Because the ARAI figure comes from a fixed laboratory cycle, while on the road fuel use moves with traffic, driving habits and the car's condition. Keeping the tyres at their recommended pressures helps; on an automatic Creta with drive mode select (every automatic trim but the EX(O)), ECO mode trades some accelerator response and air-conditioning performance for efficiency, while SPORT mode can lower it. Idle Stop and Go, on every Creta, switches the engine off when the car stands still, and a new car's fuel economy can take 6,000 km to settle. In the tests above, Creta mileage came closer to the certified figure on the highway than in the city.
