Creta Engine Oil Capacity
Creta engine oil capacity is 3.8 litres for the 1.5 MPi petrol, 4.2 litres for the 1.5 Turbo GDi and 4.8 litres for the 1.5 CRDi diesel, for a drain and refill, as on 1 November 2026. The petrol engines take SAE 0W-20 oil of API SN PLUS grade or better, and the diesel ACEA C5, C3 or C2; the oil and its filter are changed every 10,000 km or 12 months.
At ₹3,013 for the oil and filter, the petrol's oil change is the whole parts bill of its 10,000 km service; services like it, with insurance renewals and fuel, are counted in the yearly cost of owning a Creta.

Creta diesel engine oil capacity
The 1.5 CRDi diesel takes 4.8 litres. With a diesel particulate filter, the oil must be ACEA C5, C3 or C2. Two other grades in the owner's manual are for an engine without the filter only: ACEA A3/B4, and API CH-4 or above where the listed oil is not sold. When the filter fills with soot, the cluster shows the DPF warning, a light or a message: the light may go off after a drive at speed, and the message asks for a parked procedure.

Creta petrol engine oil capacity
The 1.5 MPi petrol takes 3.8 litres and the 1.5 Turbo GDi 4.2 litres; the Creta N Line has the same turbo engine and the same 4.2 litres. Both petrol engines are built for API SN PLUS (or above) full synthetic oil. A mineral or semi-synthetic oil is allowed, but then the oil and filter go on the severe-use schedule: every 7,500 km or 6 months on the MPi. The Creta EV has no engine oil, and its service list carries no oil change.

Engine oil grade for each Creta engine
Hyundai's grade for both petrol engines is SAE 0W-20, API SN PLUS or SP, or ILSAC GF-6. For the diesel it is ACEA C5, C3 or C2 with the particulate filter. The diesel may take 0W-20 or 0W-30 at any temperature on the chart, and 5W-30, 5W-40, 10W-30 or 10W-40 at all but the coldest. Add no additives to the engine oil: they can change its properties and damage the engine.
What oil grade does the Creta turbo petrol take?
The owner's manual gives the 1.5 Turbo GDi full synthetic SAE 0W-20 of API SN PLUS or SP grade, or ILSAC GF-6. Hyundai's oils list names ACEA C2 0W-30 for the same engine. The two Hyundai documents differ, and neither says the other grade also suits it: ask the workshop which grade it fills, and check it against the owner's manual of your car.
Creta oil filter and oil change interval
The Creta's engine oil and oil filter are replaced together, every 10,000 km or 12 months, whichever comes first, after a check at 1,500 km. Severe use shortens that to every 5,000 km or 6 months on the turbo and the diesel, and 7,500 km or 6 months on the MPi. Severe use includes repeated trips shorter than 8 km, long idling or long stretches of slow driving, dusty, rough or unpaved roads, heavy traffic and stop-and-go driving, hill and mountain roads, taxi or other commercial use, temperatures above 40 °C and long runs at constant highway speed. Check the level on the dipstick every 500 km or before a long trip.
| Engine | Normal use | Severe use |
|---|---|---|
| 1.5 MPi petrol | Every 10,000 km or 12 months | Every 7,500 km or 6 months |
| 1.5 Turbo GDi petrol | Every 10,000 km or 12 months | Every 5,000 km or 6 months |
| 1.5 CRDi diesel | Every 10,000 km or 12 months | Every 5,000 km or 6 months |

How to change Creta engine oil?
Drain the old oil, fit a new oil filter and refill with the Creta engine oil capacity for its engine: 3.8 litres, 4.2 litres or 4.8 litres of the listed grade, every 10,000 km or 12 months. Hyundai recommends that a Hyundai workshop does the change. To check the level yourself, park on level ground in P with the parking brake on, warm the engine up, switch it off, take out the filler cap and the dipstick and wait 15 minutes. Wipe the dipstick, push it fully back and pull it out again: on the petrol engines the oil should sit between F and L, and on the diesel inside the C range.
